York Central invites Fisch to join board
By Adam Martin-Robbins
Regional chairperson Bill Fisch has been invited to join the York Central Hospital board.
Last week, the board of trustees agreed to ask Mr. Fisch to take a seat at the table as an ex-officio member with voting privileges.
John Mills, vice-chair of the hospital board, noted the decision came after looking at the issue “in terms of making sure we’re engaging all stakeholders and funders.”
York Region has pledged about $342 million to help local hospitals build beyond the bricks-and-mortar-funding allotted by the province. The lion’s share, 45 per cent, is earmarked for Vaughan’s future hospital, which York Central is in charge of planning.
Should Mr. Fisch accept, he will become the third municipal politician on the board. Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow are also ex-officio members.
