Community supports York Central’s plans for future hospital development
“Survey findings showed that nine out of 10 residents agree that the hospital’s proposal to build a new hospital in Vaughan and further expand York Central Hospital is compelling and urgent.
“This shows our community strongly supports our vision to create a major regional health system to better meet the health care needs of the people of southwest York Region,” said Altaf Stationwala, York Central Hospital president and CEO.
Following its successful community open houses in Richmond Hill and Vaughan, York Central Hospital continued its outreach through a telephone survey to 500 residents of southwest York Region, which affirmed the strong community support from both Richmond Hill and Vaughan for the hospital’s development project.
Among those residents of southwest York Region surveyed, 97 per cent said York Central Hospital’s vision to build a new hospital in Vaughan and further expand the existing York Central Hospital site is very important to the health and well-being of people of our community. Additionally, 95 per cent agreed the population growth in the community supports the need for additional health care capacity over the next 10 to 20 years.
